Which resort to choose from Perpignan?
Capcir and Cerdanya: the closest
Bolquère, Font-Romeu, Eyne, Formiguères and Les Angles are about 1h20–1h35 from Perpignan station via the RN116 and the climb to the plateau. It is the easiest choice for a weekend: leave in the morning, first runs by early afternoon. Font-Romeu is known for its sunshine and cross-country area; Les Angles for its large alpine domain.
Spanish Cerdanya: La Molina and Masella
Via Puigcerdà, allow a little over 2 hours. The two resorts share the Alp 2500 area and are popular with families; bring ID even though the border is open.
Andorra: Grandvalira and Vallnord
From Pas de la Case to Pal-Arinsal or Arcalís, allow between 2h20 and 3h20 depending on the resort. The road goes over the Envalira pass or through the Envalira tunnel (toll tunnel); the route depends on the weather and we choose it on the day. A valid ID is essential.

Mandatory winter equipment
In the mountain areas concerned, including the Pyrenees, the “Loi Montagne” requires winter equipment (winter tyres or chains) from 1 November to 31 March. Handing the drive to a professional means you don’t have to deal with it.
